Living – Learning – Work READY!

This site has been created to provide a forum for discussion among staff and other individuals interested in improving secondary transition services for students with IEPs in WV. It is an opportunity to share ideas and thoughts about meeting the needs of students as they prepare for adulthood. Children begin this pathway when they enter school. Schools, families, agencies and the community have a vital role to play in this process. Students need experiences during school to be able to make informed decisions about the rest of their lives in the areas of living, learning and work.

Information posted and discussed at this site deepens understanding of the process called transition services as specified in IDEA 2004 and WVDE Policy 2419. Opportunities to explore and respond to others on this site are limited only by the individual. This is the place to raise issues and hear solutions from experiences of others.

Consider sharing your ideas with others about providing quality transition services in your district. Individual pages have been set up for specific topics of discussion. Select your topic of interest and click on that page to begin contributing to the discussion.

Would anyone like to have pre-recorded presentations about components of transition and special topics? If so, please suggest topics for presentations.

Does the WV transition map help to explain transition services to students and parents in a concise graphic format? What might be better or How can we improve the information in the map?
